Only a handful of people have the answer to that question and I'm pretty sure none of them are in here
Takemedrunk... according to your ranking from the last thread, you ranking Drouin fairly low, fair to say that you believe Bergy got robbed in that trade? |

Thought it then, think it now. JD was looking good preinjury so if he can get back to that it can become closer. His value to the Habs is greater than his league wide value in my eyes but I could easily be over estimating the way GMs view his hold out and all that stuff |

Wasn't a big fan of the deal either, didn't think he was worth a top D prospect and I'm pretty convinced he couldn't fetch one now, not on his own anyway
Since joining the Habs
181 GP 38 G and 76 A for 114 P |

In his defense, not his fault MB had made such a mess of things they decided to try and convert him to C, then flip him back. His development and deployment have been a mess |

I agree
Moving up to the very top of your list, is Danault worth a top D prospect? Straight up? |

Young C who plays 200 feet and scores at a top line or minimum top 6 clip, on a good contract and rfa at end...the more I think on it the more I keep him. Suzuki, KK and Danault as C's...move Poehling to LW...trade one of Domi, Tatar or Drouin, likely Tatar as his value is greatest and even then hard to know what comes back |

Danault is UFA after next season, not RFA... I'm not sure if that would change your opinion or not.... but either way, the question is, is he worth a top end D prospect?
One example, for entertainment purposes of course... Danault straight up for Jake Bean, does that make sense for both teams? |

get rid of Drouin and Domi asap...Domi is terrible..he is more concerned with his hair style than his game...Drouin is just terribtrade him or send him to Laval.... We need size, size, and scoring ability. Manhandled against the Bruins (outclassed by the Pens). Not a single Hab came to Gally's defense against Chara...if I were a Hab I would have taken my stick and hit Chara over the head after he crosschecked Gally to the face....you mess with the heart and soul of the team you die.....I can't stand this Bergevin disaster of a team. What a mess in Montreal. |

I'd still try and sign Danault but that puts a wrench in there...for Jake Bean no thanks for me...he's a good prospect but for Danault and what he's done it's either can't miss or same for same type thing |

I love when people say what they would have done in a scenario they'll never face - buddy...you'd attack Chara? Yeah ok. Good luck with how that plays out. There are ways to push back but that's not it |

Bean is pretty damn close to can't miss
So, obviously in your opinion Danault is in fact worth a top D prospect? Right?
What about Domi? Does he have that kind of value?
Surely you could fetch one and more if you packaged up Petry & Armia?
Tatar & Mete? You think that could be a starting point to acquire one of those "can't miss" guys? Like Byram or Dobson? |

The way "I" would build the team from here on, I put great value in Danault and would be happy to keep him if the dollars make sense...whether or not they do we can find out as of July 1 so the earliest I'd make a decision on him is then.
I do think Domi has value but I also see it as fleeting. Suzuki should be at C but it seems Domi isn't the same at LW. I certainly see his value as less than Danault.
Petry I think would bring a nice return, nicer if done before the tdl to give the team two playoff runs. Guy has avg'd over 40 pts a season with the Habs, he's big, can play more physical than people tend to give credit and he can play up the lineup. He also has a 15 team no trade.
Mete I have no idea of his true value, it could be at two opposite poles. Tatar should bring back a nice haul if they move him but I imagine MB signs him. (I'd trade him but I'm not MB) |

Suzuki is a C for sure, been saying it since they got him... that's what makes him stand out, his ability to play the position so well... positioning, vision, faceoffs... he's already superior to Domi in all of those aspects
And I agree about most of what you said, I think they definitely have what it takes to acquire what they truly need, just a matter of doing it.... I wouldn't be thrilled about trading Phil the Thrill, but if it was absolutely necessary to land one of those "elite" D prospects, I'd do it for sure... mind you I would explore all the other possibilities I laid out earlier first |

He may not be a top of the heap #1 C, but I'm old enough to remember when the Habs desperately needed a #1 C, and so I'm in no rush to get rid of him. Creating a hole (who else can play top line C at this point?) to try and fill another is lateral to me |

Suzuki is well on his way to knocking Phil down a peg, not a shot at Danault, it's actually great news that somebody will, cause he's really not a 1st line C, he's a decent 2nd or a real luxurious 3rd |

Bergevin's record since becoming Habs' GM eight years ago. Missed playoffs four times and lost twice in first round. How many other GMs have been fired for such poor results? |

I'm also not so hung up on it being LD...Weber and Petry may not be here that long. Tatar to me is the big trade chip, or Domi if they do it soon. |

I don't think anybody is defending MB. I just think most of us have accepted that Molson isn't likely to get rid of him, regardless of whether we believe it should happen, so we move on |
